The University of Calabar, in collaboration with Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), will host the maiden Debate Championship for students of Federal and State Universities in the South-South Zone of Nigeria, from June 10 to 14, 2012.
The theme of the event, Nigeria’s Oil: In Search of Good Governance has been chosen to give our students, largely Nigerian youths, an opportunity to grapple with the contemporary challenges of citizenship and governance, generate and canvass ideas towards influencing policies that affect them and others in society.
We believe that your students, like ours, will derive immense benefits from the training and experiences incidental to their full participation. Consequently, we are pleased, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Calabar, to invite your University to the maiden experience of the championship.
